Touch and Go

Have you noticed how all new appliances seem to have touch screens? Or totally flat buttons? My electric cooking plate has them , and I do find them fabulous, s easy to clean! But it did occur to me that all this touch screen stuff is no good for those amongst us who don't see too well. Since the arrival of the iPhone, touch screens seem to have become the new standard; many other new phones have no more buttons. It's all touch and slide and choose and what have you. But there is something to be said for good old fashioned buttons people with vision impairments can feel.

I never thought of it that way. Moo loves my Iphone. And it makes me excited about how accessible technology will be to him in the future (he can't do buttons so well). I guess there are positives and negatives for everything.

Don't forget the new technology of the touch screen phones has a vibrate option when you press it.
This is a technology that has huge benefits for CVI et al as there is a vibration response on choosing.
I am in the process of writing to LG & Samsung who seem to be the leaders in this to try and convince them a tablet laptop with this tech is a must (for us anyway :-)
